A Little About Me...
Born in Hartford, CT to parents of Puerto Rican descent, Katya has worked in the arts all over the country. She is a New York City based actress and recently appeared as Tania Del Valle in Native Gardens by Karen Zacarías and directed by Timothy Douglas at Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. Previously, Katya appeared in the American Premiere of The Da Vinci Code by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, based on the novel by Dan Brown at Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine; Nilaja Sun's one-woman show No Child... at Kitchen Theatre Company in Ithaca, NY; Arizona Theatre Company's production of Nina Simone: Four Women, written by Christina Ham and directed by Tiffany Nichole Greene, and was the female understudy for Gingold Theatrical Group's off-Broadway production of Mrs. Warren's Profession as Vivie Warren and Mrs. Warren. Television credits include Special Ops: Lioness (Paramount+), The Blacklist (NBC), and, Dietland (AMC). Katya has appeared in numerous commercials and short films. Katya is currently the voice and spokesperson for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
As a teaching artist in Connecticut, Katya has worked extensively with Hartford Performs, first as a summer teaching artist, and then as an Artist-in-Residence at Noah Webster School. Katya served as a facilitator and acting specialist for Hartbeat Ensemble’s Youth Play Institute and as a teaching artist for the company’s Startin’ Drama program. Katya also worked as a teaching artist for Hartford Children’s Theater. In New York City, Katya served as a teaching artist for Naked Angels theater company and Young Actors Workshop Brooklyn.
She received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Theater Arts and a minor in business administration from Salve Regina University and holds a Master’s in Fine Arts in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. She also completed a one year conservatory program at the Barrow Group school and participated in the Labyrinth Theater Company’s Summer Intensive (2018). Katya also studies improv comedy at Magnet Theater Company.
Katya has also studied dance and movement at Alvin Ailey, Arthur Murray Dance, Julie Lang Studio of Dance, and numerous workshops in salsa on1 and on2 in both New York and Connecticut. She also studied Suzuki and viewpoints with Bated Breath Theater Company.
Katya currently lives in Harlem, NY
